A busy city street intersection

Going to bed one night and waking up 3 days later, in hindsight, has given me a lot of clarity. We all tell others (and ourselves) how important we are and how we are the only ones that can do certain things and that things should be done a specific way.

Well guess what? We are wrong! I went to bed on a Tuesday and woke up on Friday night! No one else was asleep with me. The world kept spinning and everyone around me kept living and breathing. Now I'm not saying that you don't matter, I truly believe everyone matters. I am saying that all the undue stress that we put on ourselves doesn't matter.

Did things get done differently while I was asleep? Yes, but they got done! A committee of people helped James with Jackie. The dog and the cat were cared for. The dishes and laundry got done- especially the laundry because all my bodily fluids covered our bed!

To all the people out there who have missed more than 3 days of your life, you are even stronger than I am!

The work that I put off my own health for- that got done by someone else too! I went out on an unplanned 3 months of disability without any transition plan. The work continued, without me.

I'm not suggesting that everyone just exit their daily lives for 3 days unexpectedly, but I am suggesting that you seek out more help and delegate more tasks and allow others around you to help and to shine. Also, by letting others help, you are also helping them!

Why don't you try having someone take on 1 thing from you for 3 days? Let me know how it went.
